great, yet another crappy day

well i thought yesterday was shit, today was just crap

got up at around 9 as i couldn't sleep anymore, even though i went to bed at like 2am. so i had a fry up for breakfast, thought to myself today looks as if it will be good, as i never get asked if i want bacon etc, its just the normal you wern't up and we shouted, well dur, if im asleep i wont hear a thing will i, ffs, and the parents call me the stupid one. so i had breakfast up stairs as i wanted to watch 300, which im hopefully getting on HD-DVD for xmas. so then the rest of the family go off to coscos for shopping and food, without me, even though i asked if i could go as i wanted a crate of cider. So yeah, no drink for me yet ¬.¬ Nest thing is i start watching star wars, but i start to have a hypo, so i wander downstairs and have 3 biscuits to raise my blood glucose. I then watch the rest of star wars, then turn on this program about satellites and shit, which i found interesting. then once that is half way i get asked how many eggs i want with my chips, and then i go down and get them, then i get shouted at for stealing a flake and eating the biscuits. im like what the fuck are you on about, i have no idea where the flakes are. then im told you must of cos your sister hasnt taken any so it must be you. so then i got angry and told em to fuck off. which seems to happen alot now, which is kinda depressing, alot infact, very depressing. so now ive just been in my room doing fuck all, so now ive decieded im hungry and went for some food and a hot drink to help me sleep, which doesnt really work very well tbh

Other wise known as quickshot89, quicky boy cumshot69, mr noob and my personal favourite adum berdum berdum lol. I think Ive known him the longest out of my best friends =D I met him in cubs when i started off up here and didnt have much communication with him til explorers where nearly every week we'd bring an xbox and play halo, actually one of the main reasons hes a hero to me is because he introduced me to xbox live and halo 2 and without that in my life i dont know what i would of done [it ranks up with high near to friends but not as close as jenna =P] Also he likes naruto so theres a lot we can talk about, oo and Guild wars, I miss playing that with him, but Im at a stage where my character and my heroes suck so i hardly play now. =/ He is also great to get advice from or jst have a good chat, hes mostly a calm person [cept when yelling at me on halo <.<] and gets the shittest of luck =/, but he keeps moving on =D. He's 18 in his 3rd year of college st thomas moore catholic school and is planning on going to uni next year, hes got diabetes, which is a funny story ill tell later, and a super cool setup. I hope he meets that special someone (Y).

so that cheered me up for abit. i think im just gonna have to plod along for the next few months. i think i will go to prom again this year, already have my eye on a few girls who would be fun to take, not gonna do nowt yet, wont make the same mistake as last time though.

well thats it for now, gonna go listen to the classical soundtracks from movies and games i have, and then in the morning its collage 1st thing, will probs go to big tesco for lunch and maybe buy a bottle of magners for the night time to help me sort things over in my head, or just drink it while i play halo

I cannot believe how bored i am tonight, really, its just sodding horrid

Cba with xbox live at, pc is shit as I've had to send my mobo off, and now theres no fucking ice cream left, fat arsed family :@ and i really want a drink, but im too lazy to go downstairs for the coke and then reach for my southern comfort :( im feeling rather lazy too, i wonder if thats the problem with me not being able to sleep.

I think im gonna go listen to all my classical sound tracks, like the stuff from POTC, halo, LOTR etc, that should help me waste time

really wanting a job again just to meet new people

less than two weeks to the bay reunion tour, cant wait for that, as ive decided im not gonna drink until then, well, go out drinking at least :P

Well seen as i havnt done a new entry in a while, i thought i would, few things have happened since my last blog, so i thought i would write about them

1st: server has gained more software, now i have FTP that will save me so much time, still lots of more things i want to test on it thou, but more to come i guess

2nd: 2v2 is tonight, me and youlesy are quite happy that we trained alot y'day, and we are getting some final practice in tonight before the match at 10pm. We should have a good chnace, as we both know each others strengths and weakness's, for example, im a moaning twat and youlesy doesnt listen to where i say the other team are. So yeah, thats gonna be fun

3rd: still no call back from pc world :( although i am not giving up hope yet, they did say a few weeks, so there is still hope. Its not that I need the money, it would just be nice to be able to go out more

4th: matchbox360, its a piss take over there atm, no-one can understand that an AR start is just as good as a BR start, id like to see them use the same logic on a game like CSS for example, they would just be laughed at, as you should work for a better weapon, not be given it to start.

Home Server Part 3

SO its time to configure the OS once its installed and updated, im using ubunutu for this server

first go to system, admin, and click on shared folders, and install the packages it wants, you normally click ok

then open up the shared folders application, click on the wired (or whatever way you are conencting to the network) and click properties, from there, name and comment the folder in the correct field, then uncheck the read only tab, and then click ok



we now want5 to assign a static IP, so go into system, admin, and then network

from there you want to click on your connection, properties, and then change it to stsic ip, and add the correct ip address, im using 192.168.1.11 for my servers, and all other computers get from 192.168.1.101 to 192.168.1.109 before going any higher



this step is not required, but it helps alot IMO

go to system, preferences, and then remote desktop, and change the options to the same as the screenshot below



to connect via windows xp.vista, download the following program http://www.tightvnc.com/ and follow the steps on it,

next comes the hard part, open up the terminal by going to applications, accessories, and then click terminal

in the terminal, type each of the follwoing lines, and click enter after each line

sudo mkdir /home/public
sudo chmod 777 /home/public/
sudo cp /etc/samba/smb.conf /etc/samba/smb.conf_backup
gksudo gedit /etc/samba/smb.conf

then find this line

; security = user

change it to this

security = share <- notice there is no semicolon, the colon should be removed

now go to the end of the docuemnt, and change everything below [public] so it looks like this

[public]
comment = Public Folder
path = /home/public
guest ok = yes
read only = no
create mask = 0777
directory mask = 0777
force user = nobody
force group = nogroup

then save and close the document

go back into terminal, and type

sudo testparm
sudo /etc/init.d/samba restart

and there you go, the file server is ready for action

i have yet to figure out how to disable the username and password on startup, i will update below once i learn how


but for now, thats pretty much how to build a very cheap server for the home, ive spent around £40 on this, so its very good IMO

Home Server Part 2

Right, its monday afternoon, and ive finally got a chance to say what ive been up to this morning

I started the day woken up by angry parents complaining the postman woke them when my stuff came, 3 parcels, 1 for the cpy, and 2 for the various mobos i bought

I looked at the different socket A mobos i got from ebay, and decieded the winfast k7s was a good enough board for what i wanted, so here its is



Next i checked to ensure the cpu was in good order, which it was



I then placed the cpu into its socket praying to god i didnt bend a pin



Then the heatsink/fan combo went on, that cost me £4 from ebuyer brand new, so its worth remembering cooling is a must and it should have a good bit of money set aside for it



next on went the front panel conections, the most annoying part of any build, unless you have an asus board, where you get these easy connector things



and then on went the IDE drive cables





The next part was the worst, would it boot??



well thank god it did, and its very quiet tbh, even with the side off i can only just hear the CPU fan. Linux is easy to install, its just like installing windows, boot, insert disk, reboot, boot from disk, install and then customise

i will update once i have finished the OS side of things

Home Server

well today is the day i get most of my 2nd hand/new parts for my servers today, i cant wait to be playing around with linux remotly, its costing me around 120 for 2-3 servers, depends on how i use the parts tbh, as my sister needs a new pc, so she might end up with an amd socket 754 while i use socket A for the servers. linux itself is great for this sorta stuff, anything you want to do can be done on linux, as its openware, there is a massive community behind it. A couple of people on matchbox are also interested how this turns out, so i will have to show them how it turns out.

and if you are wondering why socket A, its simple, it is dirt cheap to get the parts. I have around 4 socket a mobos that i can choose from, and 1 socket 754, ill probs end up with 2 boards spare that i will give a clean and a test, and then sell them back at a small profit, which is reasonable i think, as i bought 3 mobos for under £30, thats including P+p via royal pain. will update with pics and more notes on how the builds go
